I feel I need to reiterate my take on Coldplay, the band.
I seriously feel they’ve greatly contributed to the pussification of the new generation.
This is mainly because of a problem I have, when I’m forced to believe that something is great before I get to form an opinion about said thing. The first time I heard about Coldplay was while watching some MTV awards show, years ago. They were introduced as ‘the greatest band in the world.’ I had a hard time believing that.
You might have heard about the scandal they’re having with Joe Satriani, because the line from Viva la Vida seems to be taken from Satriani’s If I Could Fly. You can read all about that by googling it.
What I’m about to show you is a video of a magnificent piano and cello arrangement that mixes Viva la Vida with Love Story. While Satriani’s song makes me rock my head to it and Coldplay’s take on it brought a sad smile to my face, Jon Schmidt’s approach made me live it and brought several tears to my eyes.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

It’s just because of that problem of yours (being forced to believe that smth is great before having the opportunity to form an opinion) that I don’t like Coldplay. They are too worshiped for my tastes. I’ll probably never get to change that feeling. Or, who knows… I’m very… switchy.
I love Coldplay. Well, I love it because it brings me some painful memories but still loving it.
And that piano version of la vida .. and Love Story is incredible. I can provide the mp3 if any of you want it.
