Feeling A Moment

The wind blows subtly through my undersized, old t-shirt. The grass dances gently to its music. I rush to snap a shot, marveling at the view that I behold.

I look at you and I see you there, fifty years on, in the same spot. Me by your side. I’m still better looking than you, hon. I must have quit smoking.

We lay on the many shades of green. We cuddle. We close our eyes.

And that’s how I’ll always remember you.

And all this because of Feeder’s Feeling A Moment.

Women and Walking

They don’t mix very well.

I just got back from a dash to the Bank — damn formalities.
On this trip alone, I was amazed at how absent-minded women are while walking. It’s like they can’t multi-task, or like walking is such a mental effort that they can’t focus on anything else.

But that’s not the point.

The point is getting out of our way!
I walk fast. Especially when I’m alone and I don’t have to mind another person keeping up with me. It’s saddening to see three hags taking up all of the sidewalk. The saddest part is they can see me. They can also hear me, considering the jingling janitor key-chain and wallet chain I have attached to my arse. Yet, with all this, they just stagger ever closer to me, talking about whatever the hell they have to talk about. None of them will move out of the way, or at least turn half sideways.

Another incident involved two girls, coming out of a store, checking out their newly-bought hair dye. I was walking towards them and another dude was coming from behind. They saw me, they saw that they were blocking the sidewalk, they did not move. I felt a deep connection with the other guy, because we both engaged in ‘evasive maneuvers’ turning sideways, crab-walking, helper-step off the curve, the works.

Apparently, I always notice women when they to this. Men too, but those cases are far less frequent. I wonder if it’s because of their collective genetic pack, which might tell them to never step aside, or to always walk as if on a catwalk. Maybe you can shed some light on that.

Disclaimer: I’ve met women that walk great and I am considered to be male.

I Might Have Swine Flu

Cute, eh?

Beware! Underneath that mask lies a swine!Seeing how some of the people from Timisoara that went to Sziget came back with swine flu, my mates from the office got over-panicked with my cold and decided I should get looked at.

So, this fine Saturday morning, I did just that. Initially, the doc giggled and sent me straight home. Then, I get a call from some lady health inspector and she sends me back to the hospital to get some proper examination. That involved a not-so-sexy nurse telling me to lay my head back, stick out my tongue and say ‘Aaaa’. Then, she shoves this over-sized cue-tip in my mouth, all the way in, right in my throat. I tell you, it was like being kissed by that Italian girl all over again.

I’ll find out whether I have it or not on Monday, since we Romanians don’t do Sundays. Nonetheless, if you came in contact with me this past week, you’d better watch your symptoms: running nose and coughs… and all the stuff I don’t have, like: fever, headache, aching joints, fatigue and nausea.

Later Edit ( 24 Aug ): I got the results and no, I don’t have swine flu.

Road Trip Round-Up

Right Over Prague

So, yeah… I’ve enjoyed my four-day weekend.

Prague truly is a wonderful city! Apart from the still very vivid history, and the modern thinking of those in charge, the people there just seem at peace with the Universe! Plus, most everyone(!) speaks English. And if they don’t, they speak German, or Russian. The food’s great, the beer’s sublime, bla-bla, have some pics.

Budapest is not only big, it’s grand! I’m still in awe after wondering its streets and islands. Also, all that talk I’ve heard about the Hungarians not speaking English is bull. All the people I talked to spoke either English, or Deutsch. After seeing the metropolis, I’m even more excited that I’ll be visiting it again in November, to see Porcupine Tree. Again, have some pics.

Aside from these marvelous two cities, I’ve also had a lot of fun seeing The Offspring play right in front of me and being at Sziget in general. Obviously, I met up with Ovi, Richie, Rob, Alex — thanks for sharing your tent, by the way — Adina, Emi, Paul + 1, Horatiu, Mirona and others.
I also discovered the California Coffee Company, which kicks the shit out of Starbucks, while meeting with Jason.
Naturally, on the trip back, I met with a good old friend, Carmen, who kept me great company. Plus, while on that train, I helped dr. Fetish fill up his memory card.

The butt-pain from sitting in a car and train for hours, the hangovers, the money lost and the muscle burnt were all well worth it!

Fight for the Real Drugs, Not These

It came to my attention that Spice, and other “legal” hallucinogens, will soon be made illegal in Romania.

GOOD!

That stuff is junk anyway.  Most taste awful, don’t work and cost just as much as good ol’ marijuana. The reason for their high demand was the fact that, unlike weed, they weren’t illegal.

Now that that’s about to change, I hope people will flock back to weed, rising the demand again, urging people to start bringing in the good stuff again.

Seriously, this is a good thing!

Road Trip

This year’s vacation is weird.

I was supposed to go to Amsterdam, but that’s not happening anymore.
What is happening is: I’m going to Prague.

I’m leaving in about four hours, with my folks — whom I’ve greatly neglected  this year. The best part might be that, on the return trip, I’ll be dropped off in Budapest, so I can go see The Offspring. I may not listen to them much now, but the first cassette tape I ever bought was Americana. So I’ll be damned if I miss their concert.

This four-day weekend that’s ahead of me is a much needed vacation from everything. From bad breath and sweet perfume, from pale skin and dead people, from daydreaming about code, from coke, from too much beer and from too much of what I’m used to.

I’ll be seeing you on twitter and maybe google latitude.

2^4 + 2^3 – 1

Twenty-three years ago, today, at twenty to six in the morning, I started breathing on my own.

No, I am not feeling older, or different.

Yes, I am having a lot of fun :)
