Funny how this particular Quote Of The Day really ticked me off. This is what is saw in my Gmail web clip:
Anne Frank said “Whoever is happy will make others happy too.”
I guess that might work, but only to a certain extent. A mildly happy person might be able to mildly lift someone else’s spirit. A very happy person is simply obnoxious, and their happiness saps all that was left of your own happiness.
I think Anne Frank was trying to say “Whoever is gay, will try to make others gay too.”
I think there are a lot of famous quotes and sayings that are just damn wrong. Or, at least, took on a wrong meaning over time. Don’t you?

Sometimes really happy people or really optmistic ones, that just overflow with good thoughts just make me sick. Come on, how can life be THAT beautiful?!?
So I agree [altough I might have my own moments when I annoy people with my good mood].
We each have our own obscure moments of happiness, as you can recall the Iphone, or Anda recalling the time actually spent at the seaside (and not the one spent aside when she returned) or me getting Fiona III
Your argument is precise and realistic and from my own sadistic point of view, I’d say it stands. But well, first and most of all, it depends. Maybe for her, at the end of the day, butt is what made her happy

Who knows? (‘xcept her, ofcourse)
Oh, but I was told that even when I was happy at the seaside I had some melancholic feeling, and I was not overflowing with joy. It was indeed a very happy time for me, an everyone/everything around me was perfect and on the same wavelenght, so words or gestures were unnecessary. We just lived it… I guess that feeling was contagious. Maybe if I had been exhuberant and extatic, I would have ruined the mood.
So… maybe she is right. Happines has many forms, not only the annoying one, and it is contagious.
Anda and Raka, while I do agree that happiness takes many forms, if we’re trying to bend our definition of happiness to fit the quote, we’d be able to do it. That’s not the point, though.
If one person is happy, those around them might get happier, but by no means jut as happy. Or maybe I’m too much of a do-it-yourself-er
Who said you need to be as happy as the source ? It’s good enuf if you can lift the others spirit just a bit.
bit by bit by bit.
maybe it works like this: if you meet 10 happy people a day then you are happier that each one
p.s: you misspelled challenge in title
Ovidiu U, I’m pretty sure I can come up with a vague enough statement that will always be true. I was simply talking about those energetic, over-joyous, chipmunks on speed. I think meeting 10 calm, pleased, balanced people could do wonders for most anyone.
PS: Thanks
Nu stiu de ce ma regasesc in “energetic, over-joyous, chipmunks on speed”…
Camelia, me neither. You’re more like a sloth than an energetic… anything
Inca nu sunt atat de lenesa incat sa nu ies in oras
Camelia, dear, you live ten minutes away from the drinking quarters. No wonder you go out often. This does not make you any less of a sloth.
I’m not lazy… I’m just purposeless (during vacation)
Camelia, I see. The rest of the time, you’re just comfy or procrastinating. This is way better, indeed.
