This comment has nothing to do with what you wrote in your article: Me thinks me gonna enjoy commenting here and me dumb for not doing it sooner. Hope you forgive me for my negligence. :D

@Cristina-tm : I do care about the people around me, but that does not mean that I have to give up something that I truly desire. I think that the ones that care about me back will eventually try to understand. As for the others... it's their problem, not mine.

Of course, there are cases where they should take naying to the next level and give you a slap, or something... like when your true desire is to inject yourself with heroin or something... But I am not talking about extreme cases here :)

Again, just and well argued your words are, young one! The force is strong with you :))

I knew the sense of nay-saying, i was just pointing out a practical shade we may be dealing with, from time to time. And after all, it's a subjective point of view for everybody ;)

And regarding the comment length, i warned from the beginning it's going to go for the record ;))

Raka, your comment is longer than my post. And no, I did not count the disclaimer.

Most of the time, naysayers base their comments with five-monkeys-in-a-cage-ish arguments. More often than not they have no experience with your issue. Now, there are some that will say that they've been in the same spot as you. Let's not make a fuss about how that's mostly impossible, since everyone's unique.

But even if the advice was pertinent, and their experience relevant to your current stand, it still does not matter. There are some things we take for granted, some rules we adopt without doubting their validity. Like drugs being bad for you or that beating women is not nice.

But the line stops there, at common sense. Everything else, you need to learn on your own. You need to spend all night finishing your project, you need to have your heart-broken before you can really let go, you need to fall to learn to pick yourself up.

Even if the naysayers are actually out for your own good ( that's not the meaning of the word, mind you ) it does not matter.

Right, so we've covered people who care about you. Now, let's move to being stupid. Being a reverse naysayer just for the sake of it. I think ridiculously rebellious sums it up. You're no longer fighting for something you want to believe in or already do. You're fighting to live out other people's fantasies -- because that's what it comes down to after a while.

Now, let's get back to the proper sense of the naysayer.
This site runs on an apache server. The apache project was one that stood the test of corporate opposition. The people behind it said "fuck off" to the naysayers. It's now the most popular webserver around.

And if you're a naysayer to the community, you're the spark that keeps wheels moving along. You're the itch that requires thought on how to have it scratched. You're a sine in a line.

It all boils down to either having a struck of genius or failing miserably. Either way, you gain some and you lose some. But at least you're not standing still or inching at it by playing it safe.

Disclaimer!

GET POPCORN, A DIET COKE AND A PACK OF LUCKIES, THIS ONE'S A "RAKA" CLASSIC, GOING FOR THE RECORD!

end Disclaimer

Well, being a naysayer has its advantages and disadvantages. Each and every one of us was, is or will be a naysayer regarding something at a specific moment, but i guess it depends on what side of the "nay" you're finding yourself.

Getting involved in anything requires obviously a decision and managing the consequences of that make the naysayers say nay. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but not caring about the general public's oppinion makes you a naysayer in respect to the general view of things. And crowds seldomly can be beat or made to have changes of heart. So basically the one being nay-said in the first place is - in fate's irony - a naysayer on his/her own towards the community.

Taking a dump on other people's beliefs or principles (a.k.a. not caring) doesn't make it right. Nor having the balls and misunderstanding when and how to use them...

So I ask you this: does it really pay off in the long run to be a naysayer in respect to the people that want and wish you well? Because we all know that the people who don't care and want your well-being don't actually give a damn about the facts to get involved...

Dear, i'm a Mr not a Miss. I just wanted to thank you for your post that made me care less when other ppl tell me it's wrong that I'm over 30 and I like 13 year old girls. Oh, the girls are willing, as long as I pay them, btw. And the use of "pathological" is highly debatable. Bye now!
