Google Web History
You don’t want people seeing what you’ve searched for? But you searched for that! Are you ashamed now? Why?!
Government Email Snooping
While I don’t condone it, how can it hurt you? If you’re a gunrunner and you’re about to get convicted based on evidence found in your mailbox, I salute that! Other than that, nobody cares what colour your panties are! The police can search your house with a warrant; why not your mailbox?
Facebook Stalkers
You are aware that you can block people, right? Better still, think about why you joined Facebook!
Google Analytics Tracking
If most of the visitors from your site are from jail, or the States, or Japan, wouldn’t you like to know? If most of them are running Linux or Mac, wouldn’t you like to know? Also, you like it when a site caters better to your needs, right? You like it when they give you more of the stuff you liked before. How do you think they know all that?
That information should not come close to defining you as the wonderful, complex person that you are! That information is just peanuts compared to all the feelings you can instill in another person!
And if that is not the case. If the amount of information available on the net accounts for most of you. If there’s little left to find out about you in the real world. Well, in that case, I’d say your online privacy is the least of your worries!

Love the content, love the layout. Two thumbs & two big toes up for this one.
ily, you get a free lap dance
Sir, please step away from the vehicle!
You have been searching for the key-phrase “homemade bombs” 2 years ago and therefore we have the right to detain you for questioning for a period up to 20 days. Hand over all your belongings to the officer on the right. Don’t worry, your house will be locked after the thorough search and we are monitoring everyone who googled for “lock picking” already.
Sir, I see here that you ordered Japanese comics depicting underage characters from Amazon. Is there something you want to confess before you’re taken to an undisclosed processing facility? What? A lawyer? I’m afraid you gave up this right when you sent that email last week arguing against the current form of government and thus becoming an enemy of the state.
Take him, boys!
stefantalpalaru, you’ve just described the kind of person that could use this kind of adventure in his life
And, for the record, if the police want to take you in, they can do that for suspicion of jaywalking. At least this way, they have the courtesy of googling your name.
There is this paranoia[which I sometimes share] about the amount of information you leave on the Internet. Thing is, most people don’t even know how easily their activity on the Internet can be tracked down.
Yes, we still have the power to choose what is available on the Internet, about you, but many don’t know how to use that power. Shame.
Dog, yeah we leave a nice trail of breadcrumbs, but it’s not like the ISP`s don’t know about that, and it’s not like it matters all that much.
Ștefan has a nice point, about the potential backlash of your online actions. But, realistically, that will not happen to you, or me, or him.
And the people that don’t know how to erase that trail ( which is hard, mind you ) probably don’t have that much to lose. Unless they’re rapists or gunrunners or hard drug dealers; in which case, I say it’s all for the best.
Most of the information collected in a fair way on the internet is general and important for people who try to sell stuff to you. They need to know the trends. I don’t think it gets that personal. It would only be a lack of resources and time. Most people search for a lot of different things online and it’s fine.
